Fagioli Spa, a global powerhouse renowned for heavy-lift transport and complex logistics, brings the operational strength required to tackle decarbonization in the “hard-to-abate” river transport sector. The company’s participation involves providing a vessel from its own fleet to be transformed into a floating experimental platform for testing hybrid propulsion technologies.

Fagioli will coordinate the onboard integration of a hydrogen injection system (developed by TI-ES) directly into existing diesel engines. This retrofit aims to extend the service life of the vessels while drastically reducing their environmental impact.

This pilot operation holds immense strategic value: it validates a technical and economic model that allows logistics operators to navigate toward sustainability without scrapping entire fleets, while simultaneously revitalizing freight transport along the Po River axis.
